Getting ready for the night on the bus, we stacked up some supplies, and got going. The sleeper bus had some 20 beds, pretty comfortable with panoramic windows, so we could just lie there enjoying the views. It took about 3 hours just to get out of Wuhan city, and once on the highway, the bumpy part of the ride began. This was the cheapest and fastest way to get to Zhangjiajie, taking about 11 hours. We arrived in the middle of nowhere before sunrise, got a cab to Zhangjiajie village, about an hour or so. While sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the sunrise and stores to open, the thick fog disappeared revealing some majestic peaks in the national forest.
